MESSAGE FROM THE BELL. - RE: Corona virus

Dear Customers,

It's with a heavy heart that we must announce that we won't be opening on the 4th of July under the Guidelines which the Government has released.

It's our belief that the government are ignoring the advice that science is telling us. We cannot in good conscience open the pub when contracting a deadly virus is still possible under these Guidelines. By the government's own admission, on average, 1 in 20 people has this virus.

We care too much about our staff and our customers to risk rushing back, thus contributing to a second wave of this pandemic. We hope to open our doors in the near future when it is safe to do so.

We will continue to provide takeaway, this will available on the first Thursday and Friday of each month starting 6th and 7th of August.

Please contact us anytime for large party takeaway bookings (minimum 48 hours notice before date of pickup.) See revised menu in our 'Menu' tab.

Stay Safe!

Thank you for visiting!

Welcome to the Bell in Benington! We are a family owned and run business set in a Grade II* listed, 500 year old pub (made into a Public House in 1693) in the heart of the beautiful village of Benington, close to Stevenage.

.

Raffie and Rashieda Hosein are delighted to have taken over the Bell in Benington since May 2014 and are now serving home-made, hearty Trinidadian and Caribbean foods in the 'TriniPot' including Aloo Pie, Goat Curry, Chicken Creole, Stewed Lentils, Calypso Rice and much more.

.

Our daily fresh home cooked food is made with local ingredients as it is possible to source and our ales meanwhile are also sourced locally and we provide a wide range of spirits, wines and soft drinks.

.

It has now been over 4 years since the we have open our door to the public, and we have almost completely given up balance sheets, to welcome new faces daily. We were blown away by the heartfelt welcome we received and continue to receive from our local community . We would like to say a very special thank you to all.

.

Our customer base have now expanded to places as far as Battersea, Watford, Barnet and Ware just to name a few. As a result we are continuing to expand our menu periodically to cater for their needs and taste!

.

Over the past couple of years we have held several birthday parties, the largest being 160 people, wedding of 120 people, anniversary of 90 people and many christenings. Some of these function were held outside with the use of a Marquee and the beautiful grounds which we have now created (pictures of these can be seen on our ' Events' page).

.

Please stop by and say hello, try our food, enjoy our large beer garden, historical house and enjoy your surroundings. We look forward to welcome you soon.!
